Dell Thunder Android Smartphone Pics Storm Onto the Scene [Android]

In a week that’s been filled with stories of Apple’s smartphone leaks, I guess Dell got a little jealous and let some photos slip out of their own new mobile handset.

The Dell Thunder looks pretty slick from these early pics the guys over at Engadget managed to get their hands on. The Thunder is expected to have a nice big 4.1-inch WVGA OLED screen, and sports an 8-megapixel digital camera. Rumor has it that it will have a zippy Snapdragon CPU powering its brains. Connectivity will be provided by 7.2Mbps HSPDA and Wi-Fi.

From the looks of the user interface screens, Dell has added their own menu system, but under the surface, there’s a full Android 2.1 operating system. Internal documents from Dell indicate that the Thunder will include built-in support for Facebook, Twitter, and Hulu, and also play Flash 10.1 content.

At this point we don’t know a firm release date, but word on the street is a Q4 2010 release for the initial version of the phone.

Dell Lightning Is a Beauty Who Runs Windows Phone 7 [Dell]

The Dell Lightning slider is apparently not coming out until the end of the year, but it looks rather good—aesthetically and feature-wise. The Windows Phone 7 device has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 4.1-inch OLED display, and more:



Seems like this will be worth keeping an eye on.

Dell Has a Tablet-Like Prototype, Too [Tablets]

Not wanting to be the only kid on the block without a faux-tablet in the works (or fauxblet, as I’m going to call it for now), Dell has announced that they, too, working on a slate-style PC.

Dell’s concept is a 5-inch touch-screen device running Google’s Android operating system. The big pull seems to be that the devices can be connected together to play games across machines.

Like the other fauxblets unveiled at CES thus far, specific details about the device’s specs or a projected release date were not revealed.

Dell’s “Streak” MID Hits the Internet [VIDEO]

Say hello to the Dell Streak. The 5″ WVGA (800×480) touch screen mobile internet device (MID) has found its way online and into the hands of a few lucky folks. It was reported back in July that Dell had been looking at a family of products with screen sizes ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches . The full list of Streak specs isn’t known yet, but a few things have already surfaced.

Although it’s billed as an internet tablet/device, we see a screen shot that shows an incoming call. We’d love to learn a bit more on that.

The Dell Adamo XPS gets pictured

First, a rant: Dell is really taking advantage of the media with the new Adamo XPS notebook. It’s classic. First they put up a teaser website a month ago that shows nothing but the incredibly thin dimensions and a side picture. Then they call a press conference where all they do is wave around the notebook for 3.5 seconds and then put it away. Now, there is a press release that contains nothing but two new pictures. This practice is tiresome and I hate that we must play the game, Dell. Anyway… on to the press release.



The new pictures shows off the unique hinge design of the Adamo XPS. It’s exactly how I thought it would work after seeing some pictures from the 9/9/09 event. The notebook is so small that designers had to pack all the computing hardware under the screen instead of around/under the keyboard. The result is what we see above as the hinge had to be moved up so the screen to keyboard ratio isn’t thrown off. I’m just curious how the notebook will stay open when sitting on your lap. Oh, and I of course wanna know the price and specs too.

3D Gaming And Video Coming To A Dell and HP Laptop Near You? [Rumor]

I was just thinking that my laptop's screen was way too two-dimensional. Ok, no I wasn't but these rumored 3D laptops from Dell and HP could be pretty freaking cool for 3D games and movies.
The rumor is that Dell and HP have placed orders with Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron for 3D notebooks and they could arrive soon. Acer has been rumored to release a notebook with a 16-inch 3D display as soon as next month. I have to expect 3D technology would add quite a bit to these types of notebooks especially if they use Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision.
Now I am convinced I would look like a tool wearing 3D glasses in front of my laptop, but I've always wanted to read my e-mail in 3D. [Digitimes]

Dell Adamo XPS: Thinner Than Air [Notebooks]

What happens when Dell's Adamo and XPS laptops get set up on a date, have a few too many drinks and end up rocking the bed? The slimmer-than-Macbook-Air, 9.99 mm Dell Adamo XPS.
Dell is revealing next to nothing about its new best of breeds lappie today. All the micro site tells us is that it is 9.99 mm or .39 inches thin. Dell is cleverly showing it off today being 9/9/09 and all.
For a bit of measurement comparison, the original Adamo was .65 inches thin. The Macbook Air is 0.76 inches at its thickest point and 0.16 inches at the front. The Adamo XPS will be all around thinner than the Air it seems and from the single picture it sure looks it.
I hear the Adamo had a pretty brutal walk of shame. We are looking forward to details on the illegitimate child since we have no idea what is inside, what size the screen is or if it will cost less than a hybrid. [Dell Adamo XPS]
